Camila Cabello's debut cosmetics range is very different from those of "make-up moguls" Rihanna and Kylie Jenner.
The singer and reality TV star helm the hugely successful cosmetics brands Fenty Beauty and Kylie Cosmetics, while Camila has recently teamed up to release her first make-up collection with L'Oreal Paris.
Named Havana after the 21-year-old's hit single, this is the first collaboration the brand has done with one of their spokeswomen, and Camila was keen to use the opportunity to reach out to people who, like her, don't have the strongest make-up skills.
"I was really into the idea because I realized I don’t pretend to be a make-up mogul like Rihanna or Kylie. I don’t know how to do fancy make-up tricks - fancy eyeshadow, fancy contouring - I don’t know how to do any of that," the Crying in the Club hitmaker explained in an interview with British Vogue. "But I just realized with this line I don’t have to pretend to be anything I’m not. The products are all products that I wear, and that I would wear on a day off. They’re super simple and easy to apply, and you don’t need to be a make-up guru or an expert to apply them on your face and know that they’re super high-quality products."
Camila added that the name of the collection represents "a hot summer day," and as a result, it was very important that the cosmetics were designed to withstand the season's heat.
She also got the honor of launching products the brand had never sold before.
"I wouldn’t want to wear any kind of foundation or product that feels like it’s heavy on my skin or causes me to break out after. So it’s very natural and sunlit and glowy," she shared. "It’s the brand’s first liquid bronzer that they’ve ever had and it’s a very golden, almost shiny bronzer, eyeliner and these lip glosses that I use literally every day. Everybody tells me how good they smell."
